Once our flooring project was completed I decided to give our fireplace an upgrade. My friend Tracy came over and we got to work with the tile saw.
This is the “before” picture – the new paint is on the wall here but the flooring guys hadn’t ripped out the hearth yet.
I took a can of high heat spray paint to the brass before the new floors arrived. Just getting rid of the brass made a huge difference.
Tile Completed – Don’t look too closely at our errors – we learned some tile alignment lessons today…
And here you can see the tile after the grout was added. Many of the mistakes just blend in! When Charlie got home from london he used the angle grinder to clean up the last few edges that were messy.
I spent several days painting and adding trim. Charlie did all the cuts for me and we both have a greater appreciation for the work finish carpenters do.
Overall I am super happy about how it all turned out. We plan to add bookshelves on top of the cabinets on both sides this fall.
