The First Few Hours

After an uneventful flight, we landed around 2:15 pm in Seoul. We have discovered that the Seoul airport is much like Heathrow in that we walked for almost an hour to get from the gate, through customs, and finally to get luggage.  The humidity is high in Seoul and it took about an hour in a steamy cab to get to our hotel.

Our hotel is lovely and located above a fancy shopping mall.  We spent some time wandering the labyrinth of clothing and electronics stalls and then found the food hall.  The food hall was similar to those we have seen in European department stores. Everything beautifully packaged. Imported food is crazy expensive. Not a pear to be seen so far…but the $30 watermelon had a pretty bow!

We tried some spicy chicken for an afternoon snack.  It wasn’t nearly as spicy as it looked.

For dinner we found a cool Gastropub called Devils Door about five minutes from our hotel. We split a pizza and has some of their in house beer. It wasn’t a very Korean meal but a good one to end the long day of travel.  I think there was some Kimchee on our pizza so that counts right?
