Thailand

After a short red-eye from Tokyo, we landed in Bangkok yesterday. The plane was really new and high tech with USB chargers next to the TV’s- even in economy. Too bad those were the most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in…. We had a short layover and headed to Koh Samui. We spent the afternoon lounging by the pool at our hotel while waiting for our room to be ready. There was some problem with our room and they wanted to send us to their sister resort. We checked it out online and when we found out it didn’t have a beach we told them we didn’t want to move- it caused a little drama but they ended up finding us a room here. I must be several categories higher as it is a little “villa”. We have no view but it is a very authentically decorated room. A few singing birds and we could be at Disneyland…

We took a taxi to a grocery store for more sunblock, snacks, and cheap beer and bottled water.  While we were there it started to rain one of the largest downpours I have ever seen. We were even treated to some spectacular thunder and lightning.
In the evening we had a lovely dinner and walked the tourist and market streets for a while.
