Shopping and Reunion

Charlie had to work today so after breakfast I headed out on my own. My first stop was the Disney store. I decided that I would treat myself to a day of Disney tomorrow and bought tickets today to try and skip a step tomorrow.
After that I hit the Apple Store to use the wifi to map to my next stop. I have been wanting to go to the Juni Moon store in Tokyo for a while. This store stocks all things Blythe.  I picked up two sewing books with patterns- the instructions are all in Japanese but thanks to my many years of sewing in 4-H the pictures and symbols will be enough to go by.
I grabbed a cab to my hotel to save time and had a quick lunch from 7-eleven. Then I raced back to the metro to meet an old friend. Akiko lived with my family for six months when we were both in high school.  She met me near her house and took me to a Shinto shrine for a ceremony to bless my family with good health and happiness.

Once we left the shrine we took a stroll around Tokyo university and then went to her house to wait for her son to come home from school. It was fun to sit and catch up. The last time we saw each other was in 2008.
Once her some arrived we headed out to
dinner where her husband met us for wood fired pizza. I shared pictures on Facebook with them of all the people she could remember from her time in Hood River. It was fun to catch up. Hopefully their family can come visit the west coast some time soon.
