Portlandia…

Dad volunteered to take us to Portland today so we hopped in the car after breakfast and headed west. It was fun for me to see the Columbia Gorge through Tracy’s eyes. I take the beauty of this place for granted too often. We made a quick stop at Multnomah Falls and then continued on to Portland.

We started at Powell’s Bookstore and picked up a few things to take on our trip.  After a little wandering in the pearl district, we walked about ten blocks to Voodoo Doughnut. The line out front was completely insane and the group voted to skip the line this time.
We continued south and then west through the streets of Portland and stopped here and there. After a lovely lunch at Jake’s dad was eager to get home as the traffic had been unusually crazy on the way in.
We stopped in Hood River on the way home to do a wine tasting and find Tracy a magnet for his collection. The evening concluded with a lovely dinner of razor clams and steaks on the deck.
We had an amazing Cakebread wine that Charlie sent up here with us and watched the end of the Olympic diving trials. Everyone was tired early as seems to be the theme on the farm. We went to bed before dark – which is one of my favorite summer traditions when in Parkdale.
