Australia Day 5

We celebrated Valentine’s day, and one week of marriage, with an epic trip to the Great Barrier Reef today.  We took a tour with “Cruise Whitsundays” to their pontoon on the reef.  It took several hours to reach the pontoon but upon arrival, we found they had all the facilities we could need.  Charlie snorkeled and hung out on the boat while I went on a 12-meter deep scuba dive for about 45 minutes.    After my dive, we enjoyed lunch, the water slide, and more snorkeling.  The sea life was just incredible and it was a wonderful experience. The boat ride back was long and we both snoozed a little.  Once back in town we headed to the restaurant we had booked for today.  We were shocked and disappointed when we got to the restaurant to find out that they had no food.  It turns out this is the end of the tourist season and many of the restaurants were shutting down. This particular one simply decided they had run out and were closed.  Being that it was Valentine’s day everywhere else we tried was booked.  After an exhausting day, we grabbed a takeout pizza and box of wine and spent the evening watching bad reruns in our room.  It was honestly the perfect Valentine’s day.
