It was time to say goodbye to Sydney today so we packed up and took a quick flight from Sydney to Brisbane and then a small plane to Proserpine. Proserpine is officially the smallest airport I have ever landed in. The airplane had to do a U-turn at the end of the runway. We walked down folding stairs and picked up our luggage directly from the baggage wagon. From Proserpine, we grabbed a cab to our hotel. Airlie (R-lee) Beach was our final destination and a short drive away. We spent a few days at the “Boathaven Resort” in Airlie Beach. It was much warmer as we were quite a bit further north so we jumped in the pool for a dip before heading to the local grocery store. This hotel also had a small kitchen which was nice for breakfast and snacks.
After the groceries were put away and the beer was cooling in the fridge we walked downtown to check out the town. We made some dinner reservations for the next night and found a sun hat for Charlie in anticipation of our boat trip tomorrow. We mailed a few postcards and then had dinner at “Rum Bar & Fish D’Vine”. I had an incredible Pesto Barramundi with sweet potato curls and Charlie had Thai Curry Snapper with Chips (fries). We walked back to our hotel and watched some TV before heading to bed.
